While Urgent Care floated between realism and the dream sequences, the story and actors’ performances remained incredibly grounded and relatable.
Warren Riley is a distinctive storyteller as both playwright and star. He delivers Al’s journey as a transguy in a universally relatable way that is still unique and specific. Cypress Cai’s directorial work should be applauded for having the ability to transform us away from the petite theater setting into multiple locations while still maintaining an intimate atmosphere. The whole cast was incredibly engaging. Thank you for an engaging evening of live theater.
