What I liked
The choreography of the scene changes was extremely well executed and enhanced the flow of the piece. Gregory Crafts outdid himself again with beautiful lighting design.
What I didn't like
I sat in the third row and struggled to hear the actors during quieter moments. Even though Hobgoblin is small, actors need to project, especially with a full house and music underscoring the scenes.
This is super nitpicky… but why was the Sound of Music dvd represented by an Animal Crossing box? Love the game though!
My overall impression
Urgent Care is one of the most polished and professional shows I’ve seen at Fringe so far. Cypress Cai has an amazing directorial eye and managed to navigate a script with several set changes in a small theatre with artistry and ease. Warren Riley writes with a distinctive style and balances wit, heart, and poetic imagery. Solid characterisation and good story. Overall well done!
