Al is a transgender man who recently broke up with his long-term girlfriend, Ellis. It was not pretty. In the aftermath of their split, Al distracts himself as he prepares for an upcoming, and long-awaited, hysterectomy. The pair’s paths miraculously converge when Ellis appears on Al’s doorstep and claims that she is, somehow, pregnant with Al’s unborn child. The news puts Al’s life on hold and forces him to further question the body he thought he knew. Through dreamscapes, flashbacks, and doctors’ appointments, the former couple faces their past relationship, their present quarrels, and their (hypothetical) future parenthood.
