Solid acting and very creative use of the space. The incorporation of using our phones was off-putting at first, but once I got up to speed with the character’s digital avatar on my screen floating above the real people and props and was awkwardly oscillating between watching the play on my screen and putting my phone down to just watch the real thing and imagining the off-stage character, it clicked that that was exactly the point; the audience experienced the conflict between physical reality and digital intelligence in real time, which is essence of the story.
What I didn't like
As was mentioned, there’s a bit more to explore here than can fit in a 1 hour time slot, would like to see the relationships fleshed out more.
My overall impression
Very imaginative, mind-bending endeavor pushing the boundaries of what stories can be told in a theatre – it’s rare to see a complex sci-fi premise treated with seriousness on a Fringe stage. Addresses a topical issue on all our minds right now.
