The cast played well off each other, inhabiting the world of the show and also inviting us into it. Director/Playwright Vince Tula gives all the characters a full arc, making us sometimes root for those we weren’t supposed to root for. Ulysses Montoya (Nueve) and Christian Wienker (Iceman) inhabit canine qualities blended with human qualities, striking the right balance of physicality. I anticipate another run for the show and I’m curious to see how they will expand production design.

My overall impression
A timely play that brilliantly tackles the L.A. animal shelter crisis and the effects ICE raids have on everyone, including pets.
