I really enjoyed Nueve’s arc and the actor that played him is fantastic. I definitely cried in one of his crucial scenes and I think telling the story through the dogs’ eyes was a really interesting choice.
What I didn't like
In future installments of this production I would add more scenes about ICE so the metaphor of the animals in cages would read a little stronger. I’d remove the scene about the women who seduced Nazis and make that a whole other script – really cool bit of history that deserves its own show!
My overall impression
This one is for all the dog lovers! Pit of Hope highlights those who are doing their part to bring awareness to the animal shelter crisis as well as the humanitarian crisis caused by ICE. A political show that reflects the divided society we live in and the consequences that it brings. It definitely made me sad, but there were some beautiful moments in there as well. A solid first work for this new-to-fringe writer!!
