What I liked

I really liked that none of the characters were really made into villains, they were all victims in some way really. It was more about what these individuals did with the reality that was handed to them… and how Nueve and Iceman, and all dogs really suffer the consequences of human issues and still maintain their hopeful dog demeanor all the way to their end. It’s heartbreaking really, and brings me to tears thinking about it. I also really loved seeing dogs just being dogs!

What I didn't like

The play tries to address so many systemic issues that it may overwhelm the central problem of the story. These issues are all important of course, but it might be helpful to practice restraint, and let these issues be implied so that the central problem can breathe a bit more and land a bit more heavily.

My overall impression

The production gave us a glimpse at humans almost as caricatures, but it did so intentionally. It was as if we were seeing the world, and the people who inhabit it through the lens of the dogs at the center of the story. Also, while many plays are of course important to those that write them, this one was clearly close to Vince’s heart, you can tell he bled for it.
