I was particularly impressed by the performances of Christian Wienker and Ulysses Montoya. Their chemistry was spot on and when I heard the show would feature men playing dogs, I was skeptical and proven wrong to be so. They pulled it off convincingly and with great skill and care. Never a caricature. Bravo!
What I didn't like
Something to look at for future productions: The pacing slowed at times and felt like it could have used an edit of about 10 minutes and/or the elements with the B storyline deepened. The stuff at the kennel was very strong.
My overall impression
I really enjoyed this play. Sstrong writing and directing. The set worked perfectly, selling the environment well. A thoughtful examination of current issues told in an impressive way, with a few surprises embodied well by actor Christian Wienker that were very effective.
