Highlighting a crisis of animal abuse disguised as “no kill.” The actor who played the volunteer was phenomenal. Both actors who played the pups were outstanding in their animal mannerisms. Great stage effects. Loved the call to action with the volunteer on a legislative level & how the public needs to push for better policies. Overall it was successful in making the audience feel something and hopefully leads to better outcomes for the shelter animals
What I didn't like
The scene with staff od’d and agent who offed himself as a result felt inauthentic since the agent had been disdainful of the staff member the whole play. It didn’t make sense. Of course I wish the play would’ve ended with a Spanish speaking family adopting the pup, but happy that he got to be the volunteer’s soul fur baby.
My overall impression
Extremely necessary & timely story regarding the bully breeds who are failed by the government, public, & shelter system. My heart hurts for the fur babies who only want love & understanding in their forever homes but instead get their “last walk” to end in “pink juice.” Lowkey I would’ve happily watched a chihuahua eat the ICE agent & staff member’s face.
