I can see why an average theatergoer might judge this concept, 2 actors playing dogs. It’s a risk but the execution is there. There were moments I was struck by sadness and then literally laughing out loud in the next moment. The balance of sadness, fear, humor and hope is what makes this play well written. I enjoyed the theme of the oppressed versus authority and had no idea of how dire the animal shelter crisis is in California, especially Los Angeles.
What I didn't like
Transitions need to be improved, some actors need to project a little more. It’s preview. Other than that the play is solid.
My overall impression
A heartfelt story that kept the audience engaged emotionally while bringing in some powerful themes. Vince Tula got great performances out of his ensemble cast. The story is very “Los Angeles”.
