What I liked

I respect the animal work done by Ulysses Montoya and Christian Wienker. One could easily write off a play with 2 guys in dog costumes, but Vince Tula’s writing and direction + the actors’ commitment drew me into the very real circumstances of the story. We root for Rachel Zapata’s protagonist to save all dogs in captivity. The center stage cage was the perfect set piece and the actors used it effectively.

What I didn't like

Being picky, but just a few transitions where the “dogs” opened the cage. Would’ve preferred them remaining as dogs and only lead out by actors with leashes, but that could be further explored in a fully realized production of this piece.

My overall impression

An anthropomorphized perspective of the recent ICE/DHS raids that allegorizes the plight of detainees in an inhumane world. If you love dogs, this is for you!
