Alex Nauta’s physicality is extremely impressive. His prowess with umbrella and wooden sandals is surely unmatched. There are wide swaths of the performance where I could not look away from his skillful acrobatics.
What I didn't like
Some moments for me fell just shy of being profoundly impactful. Huddled around the wooden stool, waiting for the object on the makeshift altar to be revealed, I thought I might be in for an epiphany or a kind of transcendent experience. The resolution was satisfying, but (for me) fell short of what I think could very well be extraordinary.
My overall impression
A worthy hour! Alex invites his audience to a very vulnerable place that is rife with creativity.
