My overall impression

Circus of Creatures – It appears to be an innocent and comedic circus of puppets in the beginning, then transforms into a surreal play featuring grotesque creatures born out of the most hideous parts of human history — atrocities and endless wars. It’s not just a simple comedic approach in mini-theater, but an attempt to create serious drama that reflects on that history. Peter Matsumoto and Josh Bennett co-wrote and co-directed this Cirque Lunaire narrative into a form of expressionistic art and social critique of the highest order. I was truly moved to see Peter, a.k.a. “Psychotrope,” on stage carrying all that weight. It was deeply stimulating and worthy of much contemplation.
