About the Project
“if not numbers” is a song-cycle about Generative AI, for two vocalists, keyboard, and electronic instruments. The two characters User (a person) and Computer (a chat bot), converse as User folds their never ending laundry pile. User expresses how exhausting it is living a life of work and mere survival and Computer offers their assistance, promising to help User make and learn things they never would have been able to without them. However, as Computer slowly reveals their own failings and biases, User comes to understand the more insidius reality of Computer’s prescence in their life.
