About the Project

This is the story of two addicts in recovery, dealing with the stresses of relapse and recovery. Our story picks up with Nate and Ty; Nate, a U.S. Veteran is struggling with getting back on his feet after battling years of substance abuse and homelessness. Ty, also a former addict, is working as Nate’s sponsor as he helps him navigate the hardships he faces as a recovering vet.

One day, as they are discussing Nate’s job search, Ty’s roommate Vic comes home early from a work trip and an argument erupts. The two exchange clashing viewpoints of the situation as Ty tries to play the peacekeeper. The explosion causes Ty and Vic to leave the room leaving a dejected Nate to contemplate the reality of his situation once again. This pushes Nate over the edge as he begins to relapse. When Ty and Vic return to a convulsing corpse chaos ensues as the two of them find themselves dealing with a life and death scenario they both thought was behind them. They begin to panic and try desperately to resuscitate him. As this unfolds, they begin to realize that they don’t know anything about Nate. As they fumble with their knowledge of what to do, minutes start to pass before Ty finally snaps out of it and begins to administer an emergency dose of Narcan while Vic remains paralyzed with fear. The tragedy unfolds as the men grapple with the likelihood that they either weren’t fast enough or well-equipped enough to deal with such a life-altering event.
