Xander’s writing is truly special and unique. A seamless mixture of poetry and prose. I expected this to be more like a standard one person show, but the format of it being interview and conversation made for a very effective narrative. The father’s dream sequences were a delight and the inclusion of “Time” showed a clear disconnect between father/son. Great pacing and flow, nothing came up out of the ordinary, seamless writing.
What I didn't like

My overall impression
An incredibly raw and vulnerable piece that wasn’t so vulnerable that it pushed us away, rather there were no moments where I wasn’t enraptured in the story and the poetry specifically helped connect and made the audience go “mmm” and “yes”, proving it’s effectiveness in relatability. This show was a heartbreaking exploration of grief. Xander is truly an incredible playwright and performer. I can’t wait to see how this show further develops. It could be put on Broadway right now with no changes. A must must must-see.
