What I liked

The writing felt like entries from a diary, I almost wish I could get an audio version of the play to listen to. The thoughts were so specific and woven so poetically and her father’s stories were painted so beautifully. I also enjoyed the twist and how it ties into the name of the play. Clever!

What I didn't like

I think it could be quite a bit shorter. Additionally, the ending caught me off-guard a bit and moved the tone of the play into more melodramatic terriotry than I initially thought. Perhaps it could work better if that type of immersion is introduced earlier on or if the darkness was pushed a little further earlier on, however it brought me out of the story a bit which made it harder for the tragedy of the twist to land hard on me as an audience member. Otherwise, beautiful work! Can’t wait to see what Xander writes next!

My overall impression

Xander’s performance in this was great! The way he wove such poetic verbiage so conversationally and so specific, moment to moment, was a treat to watch. I also enjoyed the hints of the dark and twisted aspects of the character Saph.
