I loved the personal story. It really impacted me and made me reflect on my own romantic decisions. This is what powerful art is supposed to do. The format really brought an emotional component to it. Text messages are often a museum of memories that aren’t always brought forward in artistic mediums. That was powerful.
What I didn't like
The dialogue felt overly theatrical, and the final twist felt predictable and a tad lazy. Despite these criticisms, I felt it was an overtly powerful piece of art. My biggest critique that I hope the cast members and director see is to not stand in front of the screen! Those texts are emotional bullets and soul-shattering, but I can’t feel that emotion if I can’t read them!
My overall impression
The point of art is to cause powerful emotion amongst the masses, and this show did just that. Despite its predictable writing and school project twist, it had a profound emotional impact on me and made me look back at my own decisions, and that is what makes art powerful.
