moyamoya baby: a trilogy of strokes, blood flow, and f*ckboys
TEDDY ALEXIS RODRIGUEZ certified reviewer June 10, 2026
Moyamoya Baby was a dynamic re-telling of Nilsa's dating origin story, however, it finds the heart of a Nilsa that yearns company while thriving in independence. The piece is a cuddle to the audience that embraces an actress that is not only dealing with past diagnoses, but also present consequences of a brain that is more than active. It is stroking. The literal strokes that Nilsa presents paint a story that can be heart-breaking, but it is heart-healing to audience and to her. This piece is one not to miss. ... full review

This show feels like hugging your best friend when you and them both need it most. Nilsa's performance mixed with her satirical and yet brutally honest dialogue makes the story of her life with Moyamoya both heartfelt and heart wrenching. Her desire for sex and love mixed with a rare brain disorder creates a unique story that only someone with the charm and wit of Nilsa can pull off. ... full review

Nilsa takes us on a journey of radical acceptance: overcoming hardship in a way that is both heartfelt and deeply funny. She takes us on a wild ride of embracing the new challenges of her Moyamoya diagnosis--professionally, romantically, and artistically. I learned a lot about moyamoya and I'm really glad I saw this show! It was great would recommend and would love to know if it has any future plans. ... full review
