What I liked

Vivi tells the tale of her family’s fortunate and miraculous escape from Saigon in the final days before it fell to the communist forces from the north. She manages to fill the audience with hope and joy at that tale without minimizing the sadness for those who were less fortunate. She also somehow manages to bring some humor and charm to this triumphant story of human beings overcoming and persevering through some events that most of us only read about in history books and newspapers. This show is a chilling reminder about how REAL people are always caught in the balance of these conflicts and their lives are not just numbers on a spreadsheet. I can’t say enough about how excellent this work is. Congrats to Vivi and the team. This is not an easy story to tell but to tell it with such charm and humor is quite a feat!!

What I didn't like

Vivi announced that she was looking to expand this to a longer version and I look forward to seeing that when it arrives! Check it out!

My overall impression

Damn. Get ready to have a knot in your stomach. If you are familiar with this shameful chapter of American history (you should be) then you know where this story is going. If you are not familiar with this shameful chapter of American history (you should be) then you will still be equally appalled, horrified but ultimately full of hope at the end of this life affirming story. Terrfic work from a talent to watch!
