What I liked

I loved Vivi’s ability to give us glimpses of her family throughout the tragic events without needing to fully step into each character. We don’t need her to become her family in order to tell the story because it’s so personal. She’s comfortable on the stage and manages to hold the audience’s attention with such ease.

What I didn't like

We want more! I can’t wait to see this show flushed out even more and push it to a full hour. It’s just a wonderful story.

My overall impression

I loved this show, despite its length. Vivi brings to the Fringe a story beyond personal. We are not only seeing where her parents came from, but we are witnessing a side of history that the majority of Americans have no idea about. What happened after the Vietnam War to the locals. Her ability to share with us the struggle that both her parents went through, as kids, and what it took to escape a communist war zone is excellent. But the story is too short. She’s able to get the entire audience invested in her story and we just want more.
