What I liked

Vivi is a wonderful storyteller. She tells the story without judgement of the political systems at play, but of pure survival.

This story made me think on my own family history and the sacrifices and choices my own ancestors made.

What I didn't like

There’s a lot of characters in this play, and I had a hard time following who everyone was. Maybe something visually to help keep track of everyone and their relationships to each other would have helped me out.

My overall impression

A beautiful story about fleeing Vietnam after the US pulled out. Vivi does a wonderful job of painting a detailed portrait of her family’s history. She’s a fantastic storyteller and I loved the pragmatism in which she told her story. Beyond the horrors of fleeing a collapsing country, there is a beautiful message about the importance of preserving your family history.
