What I liked

Dead John is billed as a Dark Comedy, and it delivered in that respect. It made me feel queasy at times and it made me burst out laughing at times. There were periods of high drama and periods of comic relief.

What I didn't like

I thought that the whole cast was good. I kind of got tired of some of the characters having meltdowns and running away. Outside of the theater after the show, I was able to observe a few of the cast members. Sophia Marie Rizzo seems like a very nice person. However, the character of Stevie that she played is just the opposite. Sophia did a very good job of making Stevie seem self-centered and despicable. Tasha Taylor as the drummer Keira was wonderful. Her facial expressions are quite animated, and she brings a lot of the needed comic relief. During one very heated exchange between 2 of the other characters, Tasha as Keira in the background was making me laugh out loud. I felt bad for the other 2 cast members because I did not want them to think that I was laughing at their very serious conversation. Also, it would have been nice if Tasha/Keira had a solo number or duet. As I mentioned earlier, Dead John deals with a subject that I am not comfortable with. Even though Stevie did not get to enjoy life after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, I feel like there could have been more of a stronger message to not deal with the devil. A great life on earth is not worth eternity in hell.

My overall impression

Dead John delt with a subject that I am uncomfortable with. However, it was very engaging, and I ended up enjoying the show.
