It’s not easy to keep an audience’s interest in two people inhabiting a single room setting, and the play succeeded. The script’s focus remained on the characters’ desire and growth; I found myself invested in their shared journey, which led to a satisfying conclusion. I had a emotional reaction to the cathartic final scene, which really speaks to the play’s engaging power. Jose portrayed years of aging with convincing subtlety; his joy, anxiety, despair, and everything in between really came through. Lex handled her character’s range of emotion with deft skill. For such a fantastical character, she ironically felt very real and alive, and that’s due to Lex’s skill as a performer. I highly recommend the play to anyone curious about friendship beyond death.
What I didn't like
There were minor technical issues: late lighting cues and the scene change music was left playing at a low volume for a few scenes. These were slight, however, and in no way did they retract from my enjoyment of the show.
My overall impression
I enjoyed it immensely. An intriguing premise successfully explored through solid writing and acting. The performers had excellent chemistry, and I felt the reality of their decade-spanning bond.
