What I liked
The actors put so much effort and care into this piece. The soundscape, the references, the performances, the setting…All of it took me back into Chicano history and let those moments breathe. Great work by Alan as well. I felt him existing within the character.
What I didn't like
MAKE IT LONGER. I want to engage with these worlds. I want this to be a full length.
My overall impression
We are all dreaming of Aztlan. What a beautiful and strong piece. The scenes felt so distinct and pointed while allowing the audience to dream in between the lines. The performance by Crismar Chacín-Ruiz was breathtaking and memorable. Her guttural sound and movement scene will haunt and excite me for a long time.
