I loved how we traveled through all the different pockets of the Vertical set, from the producers, to the background actors, to the stars. And I LOVED the literal soapbox moments characters got to have. That was a really funny & clever way to deliver messages that might have felt hamfisted to put into dialogue otherwise. The actors all had great chemistry and were well cast. The scenes between the background actors were my favorite!
What I didn't like
The first scene with the gun maybe felt a little out of place. But everything else flowed perfectly, no notes!
My overall impression
This show was so fun! It addresses serious issues of racism & sexism in the vertical industry and how that’s seeping into Hollywood and setting our culture back in so many ways, but it tackles these subjects with humor and camp, which makes the messages hit that much harder. The cast is huge and yet the show feels intimate. Huge props to the writer/director/actor Dee for juggling it all with grace!
