I loved how the typical Vertical Drama Troupes were interlaced with the true story at hand. As well as letting individual character have their own soap box moments. It served as a powerful tool to not only keep the audience engaged but also to see the obscurity that actors are having to put up with on a daily basis.
What I didn't like
Vocal Work— I think that every actor could have benefitted from some more projection as well as pronunciation. As there were many times that there were lines, moments of laughter, etc. lost because audience members couldn’t hear them.
Set Transitions— I think the transitions between scenes could have been a lot sharper. It felt as if not everyone was on the same page. Maybe if there was less props or if you able to add more “Bruce and Sarah Bits” over the top of transitions that would have provided for more seamless transitions.
My overall impression
What a fun piece! Filled with cringe, laughter and shining a light on the ever growing entertainment industry! Even though the industry can look bleak and shallow, especially when peaking behind the curtain of the Vertical Drama world—artists always find away for true connection regardless of the circumstances. Werewolves and Mafia Bosses included, the true hope for the “industry” as we know is deep inside of us.
