What happens when you move to LA to make it, and eight years later, you’re still waiting for your big break? Suzette doesn’t have the answers, but she can be the company to your misery.
Suzette moved to Hollywood at 23 with big dreams. Since then, she’s performed at the Comedy Store (a shitty bringer show, but still), developed an animated TV show that went nowhere, worked as a wizard at Universal Studios, and had to console a man who told her he was going to livestream his suicide.
Using raw storytelling and uncomfortable honesty, this autobiographical solo show about dreams, disease, and delusion finds Suzette asking the question no one chasing Hollywood wants to ask: “What if I never make it?”
The show covers two years of doctors gaslighting her before a Crohn’s diagnosis, losing her dad to Alzheimer’s, and losing her dream job to a girl whose entire resume was fart jokes.
“Failure to Thrive” includes adult language, dark humor, and discussion of illness, death, and mental health. Recommended for anyone who’s ever wondered, “Is it too late to start over?”
“Failure to Thrive” is written and performed by Suzette Ferretti.
