Experience love at first swipe with Jake Timeline and his giant, living 85-inch smartphone Pluggy in Instamacy, a one-man, one-phone musical comedy about sex, romance, frigidity, isolation, and desire in a world where our little phones dominate our big lives.
Who do you post for? What would your search history reveal? Beyond facile Luddite critiques and corny tech utopianism, Instamacy explores how modern desire is shaped through screens, messages, and digital fantasy. Using original electronic pop music, live camera integration, and a completely new hybrid of motion-capture and UI animation, Pluggy is performed live by an actor to create a fully theatricalized “user experience.”
Expanded from its double sold-out prototype at the Elysian Theater’s Spaghetti Festival, Instamacy moves between comedy, concert, and confessional to examine what it means to seek connection in a mediated world. Simultaneously intimate and tech-forward, playful and raunchy, Instamacy is a bold late-night show about modern love.
