I am completely in awe of this show! Dara is a brilliant writer and a flawless, natural performer whose warmth and sweetness have a sharp, undeniable comedian’s edge. The premise is so beautifully executed; navigating the absurdity and complexity of a mother-daughter relationship that suddenly becomes even more complicated by an unexpected loss. As someone who deeply understands the terrain of grief, loss, and the monumental task of honoring a mother’s memory on stage, I felt Dara’s journey straight from her heart to mine… and everyone else’s in the room. The use of the voicemail recordings grounded the audience in her story, bringing the reality of it all home. It is a captivating, wise, and intentional portrait of the human experience that had me laughing constantly and crying… well, also constantly. It was a deeply inspiring and cathartic experience for me personally, which speaks to Dara’s masterful ability to deliver her own individual journey on a universal level.
