Dara understands grief. And what Homecoming conveys is that is a complicated emotion that we all will face at some point but some become acquainted with it sooner than others. Dara also understands comedy. She manages to find some of the biggest laughs in this show in the small observations she makes on how she handled the challenging and also the mundane moments of her life. This is not a performance of an autobiography but a personification of the complexities and absurdities of maternal relationships. ... full review

Laugh out loud funny yet you may need the little Kleenex packet thoughtfully handed to you at the door! Dara Kosberg is channeling the rollercoaster vibe of the legendary monologuist Spaulding Gray (“Swimming to Cambodia”, “Monster in the Box”, etc.) deftly mixing humor, irony, grief and optimism in her own unique voice. Filled with unsparing observations of herself and the family chaos many of us know too well, and accompanied by great music and a treasure trove of her beloved grandmother’s voicemails, urging Dara and each of us to get “ kissed a lot” and do our very best.... full review

Overall, “Homecoming” is a thoughtful and honest one-woman show about grief, family, and the complicated process of making peace with relationships that never fully gave us what we needed. Kosberg brings sincerity, humor, and emotional clarity to the stage, and while I would like to have seen a bit more distinction in how her family members are portrayed, the production still lands with heart. It’s a simple, personal, and reflective piece that leaves room for the audience to think about their own family dynamics long after the show ends.... full review

Homecoming is an incredibly funny, poignant, and hopeful show about how we deal with loss and grow into the full version of ourselves. You will leave feeling like you are a better person than when you walked in, while having fun in the process. A necessary watch for anyone who has been through anything hard and navigated growth afterward -- the story is deeply personal while speaking to themes that can resonate with anyone. Plus you get to hear a hilarious grandma talk about 50 Shades of Gray. What more could you want!?... full review

Dara Kosberg is one brave actor. Getting on stage and acting the most sacred real thoughts and actions of oneself, and still being able to go an as an actor, is not an easy task, but Kosberg gets it done, with strength.... full review

Dara is polished and comfortable and warm and funny while talking about difficult topics. This was my first personal storytelling hour, and I was very impressed. Well-written and surprising in its interesting exploration of the world of grief support work, which was comforting to learn about in the face of the emotions grief brings up. ... full review
