The evenhanded way it dealt with the complicated legacy of Stan Lee, the incredible and sympathetic portrayal of Jack Kirby, getting to see all the legendary names on the Marvel masthead brought to life (what other play at Fringe has Steve Ditko in it??). But besides all the comic book stuff, it was just really well done. Great acting, writing, and directing!
What I didn't like
Maybe some visual projections of Marvel artwork as Kirby and Stan talk about it would have been cool, but really no complaints!
My overall impression
A must-see for fans of comic book history, or just fans of great acting and writing! Seeing the Marvel bullpen brought to life was a nerd’s dream come true! Surprisingly touching, and a fascinating exploration about the nature of authorship and creativity. You don’t even need to know anything about comic books to enjoy this show. It’s a remarkable accomplishment and an amazing night out at the theater. Josh Chamberlain is a real talent.
