The story was straightforward and accessible to any level of knowledge of the comics industry. A fun twist on the unreliable narrator mechanic by having two unreliable narrators directly addressing the audience, sometimes contradicting each other. Two dynamite lead performances in Bryan McKinley’s Jack Kirby and Leif Gantvoort’s Stan Lee anchor the whole show, while a scene-stealing Reid Emmons as Steve Ditko brings some laughs and emotional heft in the second half.
What I didn't like
Oftentimes felt like just as we were getting to the meat of a scene or an emotional breakthrough, we would move to the next beat. The rare show that would benefit from increasing its runtime to really mine these already terrific characters for extra gold.
My overall impression
A fun and intimate look inside a company we all think we know, showing the darkness that can come from trying to project an image of hope and optimism.
