The play does a fantastic job of establishing the personalities of Jack Kirby and Stan Lee and turns up the dramatic tension by exploring how ego and success can shatter something great. I really enjoyed all of the supporting performances as well. They helped fill in the world and added to beautifully to the dramatic tension.
What I didn't like
Other than some opening preview “jitters”… I got nothing. As the performance went on and everyone settled in, the whole show just popped.
My overall impression
This was a really smart and thoughtful exploration of the genesis of one of pop culture’s biggest juggernauts… the MARVEL universe. Sharp, clean direction that uses the space exceptionally well coupled with some absolutely fantastic performances.
