I always cross my fingers that science fiction and fantasy can be successfully pulled off on stage — always challenging because the budget isn’t there for flashy visual effects so it really comes down to interesting ideas and involving characters. Strange Beings accomplishes this with an engaging story of two very human astronauts encountering an anomaly during their long voyage home and needing to figure out what’s gone wrong in an hour.
It’s in the same quadrant as the recent hit movie Project Hail Mary, and provides more food for thought of how we can survive in the unknown expanse given our less than perfect lives.
