What I liked
The concept here is simple but so effective, rooting a sweeping sci-fi story in these two characters and their own relationship struggles. The relationship is delightfully complicated with no easy answers, and in that, there’s so much more fun to be had, and it’s enrapturing for the audience as well as the aliens! It was so fun when the aliens decided to interrupt, and the show really uses humor so effectively to cut through the tension.
What I didn't like
The first 30 mins or so I could see someone not as into the genre getting a little lost in the spaceship jargon. But once the show loops back to their relationship, it really finds its footing and can shine for any audience member, fan of the genre or not!!
My overall impression
Powerful, human, and fun!! STRANGE BEINGS balances sci-fi wonder with incredibly grounded character work that leaves the audience on the edge of their seats, not just for the plot, but also for the central relationship. The show will leave you wanting to know more in the best possible way!!
