What I liked
Everything? Truly, everything about this production was so well done. The script was tight, the acting was excellent, the set and props and lighting and sound design and all that jazz were simple and effective to put the audience on this space journey with the cast. Brava!
What I didn't like
Making it a Star Trek episode? The only thing I can think of is adding an indication of a history with the two characters at the top that we’ll get to dive into and explore when they get into it. There might be room for more subtext and saying things without outright saying them that could make the dynamic and conflict even more interesting. But I’m so impressed with everything, I think it was an excellent production!
My overall impression
The performances, the production design, the writing and directing – everything about this play was excellent! For being a space show, Strange Beings is very grounded. Just some humans being human while encountering some not-humans. It’s sweet and relatable and executed so well. I would absolutely recommend everyone go see this!
