From the word “go,” this show is captivating with the immediate introduction of the compelling central problem: “why is our ship not moving?” followed very quickly by: “something’s up with these two.” The ways those two mysteries weave and bounce off each other is expertly done, carried by two fantastic performers who could be the photograph in the dictionary for the definition of “locked in.”
This is just a very well-crafted piece and it’d be a real shame if you were to miss out on it this Fringe
What I didn't like
stop making the rest of us look lame
My overall impression
Strange Beings is a delicate balancing act that the performers and writer/director Nicole Knudsen balance expertly: enough technobabble to immerse you in the sci-fi setting, but not so much it becomes confusing; enough intrigue and drama to keep you tense punctuated moments that slow down and let the audience breathe; full of heady concepts that good sci-fi needs while having enormous amounts of humanity and heart; and just the right mix of comedic and dramatic for the story everyone is trying to tell
