The creature design is excellent! Using light (rather than shadow) as a source of fear was a great choice and well-executed. Incredible use of the McCadden’s unique space.
I liked that the protagonist was kind of prickly and salty. Especially in a funeral setting, we’re so used to lionizing the dead, and having a running commentary by a ghost slowly learning that she never really let any of her supposedly closest people in or effectively communicated is tragic and beautiful.
The final monologue was very powerful, reminding me of Mike Flanagan’s monologues but with a much darker tone. I loved how it captured the ambiguity of suicidal ideation, and tied together a lot of the curious aspects of the earlier parts of the show.
What I didn't like
If there was a tech issue at the show I attended please ignore this, but they revealed the full body of the “monster” the first time it appeared? I really liked the creature design so if that was intentional I was very confused. I also thought the timing of the telekinetic effects wasn’t synced well with the monologue, and I didn’t feel the epilogue added anything to the story.
My overall impression
The lines between who we are, how we present, and who we want to be are muddled and burst in this family drama with horror elements…
