Lacey Buchanan beautifully navigates the emotional spectrum of a lost soul, bringing the audience with her on her path to salvation. Pleshinger’s writing vacillates from acerbic wit to transportive prose in a delicate and refined way, while still delivering the necessary elements of horror and a gutwrenching twist. Her direction mirrors this aesthetic, painting a stunning image with lights, effects and emotion, then drops us back to earth.
