What I liked

The points in the show where the audience was involved (the opening NA meeting, getting into the club, etc.) were really well-done and engaging, especially in the intimate black box space. The script introduces a lot of interesting and engaging topics in a world that’s mostly foreign to me. (My cousin did a bit of modeling back in the day, and I’ve heard stories from him and his friends, which resonated with this play.) I found myself compelled by the lead characters and the larger-than-life figures that weaved in and out of their stories.

What I didn't like

I’d love to see another version of this with a few adjustments to the script and additional rehearsal time. I didn’t buy the onstage chemistry between the two leads, and the narrative through-line was unfocused and unclear to me. There were a lot of set changes which made me wonder if this was originally a screenplay, and I think the story/production would benefit from more unity of place and theatricality in the staging of it. (Perhaps anchoring most of the action at the models’ apartment or outside the club?)

My overall impression

An acerbic glimpse into the wild world of a New York model…
