What I liked
I loved how the telephone was used to haunt us through the whole show and how well Holly switched between embodying her off-stage self, her onstage self, her dad, the psychic reader— and other characters throughout!
What I didn't like
Sometimes I was unsure about whether we were supposed to participate or if something was rhetorical; so maybe a note at the beginning that audience participation may be solicited?
My overall impression
A whirlwind! Holly does an amazing job of taking us through so many funny, poignant, thoughtful, and devastating moments using death and afterlife as a frame for her experiences. She also beautifully merges her many talents — dance, performance, writing, psychic ability, and standup — throughout the piece. Highly recommend for anyone who has experienced loss and reckoning with the complicated rollercoaster of grief. Go see Holly Roar!
