THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS won my heart (yes, I used a cringe pun) - but I loved it. I didn't know what to expect from the story or the characters, so I was completely along for the humorous, dark and touching ride. The music wove through the narrative in a beautiful way. Great play!... full review

Who says a ghost story can't also be fun? The House Always Wins brings us a family curse preventing our central character from being able to leave her confines while other strangers can't help being drawn to the run down house that still manages to give off a sense of musical wonderment. A truly enjoyable and humorous script that I was happy to see on its final Fringe performance. ... full review

Carli Wright's acoustic pop songs are the highlight of this interesting genre cross: a musical ghost story. Wright plays Meredith, a ghost freshly arrived in the afterlife who must haunt her ancestral home. She needs to find a living person (Travis Cox in the show I saw) to fall in love with her and break her curse to return her to life. Meredith draws potential paramours in the only way she knows how, with her music. Sean Faye is all about the bottom line playing a real estate developer who wants to turn the haunted house with the singing ghost into a tourist trap. THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS seems to be a longer play that's been cut down into a Fringe time slot because some key scenes are too short and a bit confusing. It's nothing that ca... full review

Carli is so charmingly funny in this show, I find myself rooting for her even as her haunted intentions grow darker. The music in this show is genuinely beautiful, both in composition and performance. There are seriously moments where I felt like I was being treated to an intimate performance of an acclaimed music artist’s new song. I would describe it as a folk music horror rom com which is an unexpected and completely delightful blend. ... full review
