Carli Wright’s performance anchors the show, especially as we’re introduced to a revolving door of characters who trespass into the house. The songs are lovely, and there’s a really excellent blend of humor and horror throughout the play. And a special shoutout to Robby Angell, who’s got a delightful cameo as a clueless tourist with excellent fashion sense.
What I didn't like
If this show is ever remounted, I would love to see a longer version of this story. There is deep lore in this world that could be expanded upon, and some central characters (Dennis, Alex, The House) who could be more fleshed out.
My overall impression
If you want a genre-bending folk musical about a murderous haunted house, family curses, and romantic entanglements, then The House Always Wins is the show for you!
