The script is clever. Though it lightly follows the beats of Beckett’s play, it isn’t beholden to it. Definitely a play addressing this moment in time, it moves briskly and lands as many laughs as it does deep points. Stephanie Sheh assembled a cast that gels well, and at least at the show I saw, was truly present for each other and the audience. (I know, artsy term, but it applies.) An impressive evening of theater in Los Angeles, a city known for its theater. :)
What I didn't like
Reality: it would be fun to see this staged with a bigger budget, but I know Fringe productions often have to load in and out in minutes. It’s proof of the power of theater that the words mattered more.
My overall impression
A sharp satire about creatives trying to maintain the human voice against the oncoming storm of AI… while still making money.
