I love that she broke the fourth wall inside of the world she created. It was very meta. I appreciated that as an audience member we were included in the story. It was funny, sweet, and surprising. From Katrina‘s entrance to audience participation, we as an audience were taken on a delightful journey. You can tell that Katrina is more than just a magician she’s an actress, storyteller, and physical comedian at that. I genuinely have no idea how she did any of what she did, I love the feeling of wonder I got to feel.
What I didn't like
Because of the speedy turnover required for the venue setting there wasn’t a ton of world building set pieces (they aren’t necessary to the story but could be fun to see).
My overall impression
I absolutely loved this show. I was looking forward to the Magic aspect, but I was moved by the love story of it all. Katrina weaved narrative and Magic showmanship so beautifully. I felt fully immersed. I hope she does more shows like this because I’d love to see more of this type of show (consider me subscribed and following). Blending different art forms so beautifully.
