What I liked

Mother calls were a way in to a headspace.

Scrolling was speaking to us and a way of sharing the world that our Protagonist was missing out on – parasocially and metaphorically.

Paper and knocks served as a strong external device to share the chaos within.

What I didn't like

The monologues toward the end seemed to appear out of nowhere, more like a conversation with mom, except we weren’t on call anymore. It seemed to be an intentional turn, but I wish I saw this shift towards starting to talk to herself more in the beginning as a build to when she finally lets it out – its not for Mom anymore. Its for her – it would feel earned.

My overall impression

Mothers are care figures, but when they’re not there for us, our wounds and the dangers of the world are all that we’re left with.
