About the Project

Latini-Duh!™ is a comedic and heartfelt solo performance that follows a queer Latino actor trying to survive—and make sense of—the entertainment industry, family expectations, and his own inner critic. The story unfolds through the structure of a therapy session, but with a radical twist: there is no actor playing the therapist. Instead, an audience member is invited to read the therapist’s lines in real time, becoming an active collaborator in the performance.

This choice reflects both the vulnerability of opening up to a stranger and the stigma around therapy in Latino communities. Through bold character work, physical comedy, and moments of surprising intimacy, the show brings to life a cast of internal voices—family, industry gatekeepers, and self-doubt—each pulling the actor in different directions.

Rooted in Tejano and queer cultural identity, Latini-Duh!™ blends camp, absurdity, and emotional honesty without apology. The piece invites audiences to laugh first, then reflect on mental health, representation, and the pressure placed on Latino artists to always “represent” something bigger than themselves.

At its core, Latini-Duh!™ is not about teaching or explaining—it’s about connection. It asks what happens when joy, vulnerability, and humor are allowed to coexist onstage, and when audiences are invited not just to watch, but to listen. The result is a communal, unexpected, and deeply human theatrical experience.
