What I liked

The script, music, and most of all, this cast. Annika Hoseth does a phenomenal job of managing nods to the movie while also diving deeper into the themes through an original score. It presents what we know and love but goes in exciting new directions, very much in the spirit of the film! This sense of discovery is clear in the script, music, and performances.

The entire cast takes this material to exciting new heights. Lars Toler’s Lewis is a sincere, earnest portrayal – giving him heart, tenacity, while also anchoring the character with impressive vocal power and resonance. Mykeal North brings an easygoing, effortless charm to Wilbur, and serves as the perfect guide as we find ourselves in the future. Ben Cassil brings an infectious energy that elevates the whole cast in his portrayal of Bud, and Karen Zipor brings a unique animated energy to Dr. Krunklehorn that had the audience glued to her. Danny Gendron as the Bowler Hat Guy is truly something to behold. His ability to mix a booming voice, outrageous physical comedy, improvisational moments, and to somehow turn this mustache twirler into a sympathetic character makes this a can’t miss performance. The cast clearly was having the times of their lives, and that fun definitely passed on to the audience. Bravo!

What I didn't like

Nothing.

My overall impression

I left this show feeling inspired and excited for the future. With the unique blend of creation, failure, and setbacks that LA has to offer- the message to keep moving forward is needed now more than ever. In Meet The Robinsons, the cast delivers this message sincerely, lovingly, and with so much respect to the source material. This is the feel good hit of the summer.
