The concept of telling a story about the human experience via a love between man and banana. The manipulation of the secondary “actor” was smart and I’d love to see that refined. The prop usage also could be so good if cleaned up and integrated (clock in sound to accompany clocking in via coffee maker vs “I forgot to clock in” for example).
What I didn't like
Commitment to the show. As an audience member, it felt like the creator had a ton of fun and heart creating the show, but didn’t want to spend the time rehearsing it and refining it. It has a bit of “yadda yadda” energy where we set up interesting ideas and just kind of look to the audience with a shrug and kind of imply “you get what I’m going for” and quickly moves to a new idea.
My overall impression
The show contains some truly great ideas and the central conceit is a ton of fun. I think the biggest issue the show has is that it isn’t clean. The performer has a ton of energy and ideas, but I feel they need an editor or director to polish and refine a beautiful premise for this show.
